  • Hi, I'm Alex

I founded Alchemy in 2013 following a successful career in people and organisation development in the public and private sector, where I held HR management and leadership roles in central banking and financial services organisations.

As a long-time volunteer with arts, heritage and not-for-profit organisations, I’d always wanted to use my expertise to support organisations in these sectors - and so, Alchemy was born. As someone who is also incurably curious about people and places, I love the opportunities Alchemy has created for me to work with such a wide range of clients over the years.

When I’m not working, I enjoy baking and biking (not at the same time!), stand-up paddleboarding and spending time with my family. If you were ever to meet me on a non-working day, it would probably be in a bookshop or on top of a mountain.

  • Our philosophy

So why Alchemy? Well, because people and organisation development work, when it’s done well, is genuinely transformative. To help us make a real difference, our work with clients is guided by these principles:

    ● We spend time getting to know you, so we ‘get’ what you do and how you work.

    ● We ask a lot of questions to help diagnose the real issues and create solutions that meet your needs.

    ● We work collaboratively to involve people in the decisions that matter. We never impose recommendations or advice.

    ● We undertake high-quality research and consultation, enabling you to make better, evidence-based decisions.

    ● We help people build their capabilities and expertise as we work together – so next time round, you might not need us!

  • Associates

Alchemy has a strong network of associates, who work together regularly to deliver training and consultancy projects.

They include coaches; mentors; trainers and facilitators; as well as organisational strategy experts; operations, communications and finance professionals.

Having been involved with organisations ranging from multi-nationals to volunteer-led charities, our associates take a flexible and realistic approach, helping clients to find creative and pragmatic solutions to achieve their goals, whatever the context or complexities.

At the start of any project, we will work with you to understand what you need and put together the right team for the job.
